The world was changed by a remarkably small group of people in the hundred years leading up to the start of the twentieth century. Some of those were great engineers. Of these, Brunel stands out as a tenacious and gifted engineer who made things happen. Before and since, engineers have struggled to push their projects through, few achieved so many.
